5 Forgotten Cleaning Tasks

We’ve discovered and it’s just human nature but a lot of people simply forget to clean some areas of the house where they should be cleaning on a regular basis. These are areas that can be very easy to miss and/or forget, so don’t feel bad. In this article, we will be going over some of the top 5 forgotten cleaning jobs that you need to pay attention to right now.

Top 5 Forgotten Cleaning Jobs to Put on Your List:

1. Overhead Kitchen Extraction

The fact is, not many people think about how dirty and grimy the overhead kitchen extractor typically gets after constant usage. The reason why it gets so grimy and dirty is because the cooker is constantly extracting heat and moisture which will tend to have all types of grease and cooking vapours trapped in it.

All of this moisture ends up going through your overhead kitchen extractor and can build up right on the vent fans and the extraction unit. Thankfully, there is an incredibly easy way to clean this area.

It literally takes no extra effort and can make your kitchen extractor fan as clean as a whistle in no time.

2. Under and Behind The Refrigerator

This is an area that a lot of people simply either ignore and/or forget about. The reason is simple, out of sight – out of mind. However, this does not mean that you should leave these areas to sit and build up dirt, dust, and grime. The key to getting this area cleaned on a regular basis is going to be by pulling the fridge out. If you have a hardwood floor, you want to be very careful when you are doing it in order to avoid scratching your floor. Once you move your fridge, you will likely notice that a ton of dust builds up because refrigerators have fans which can accumulate and spread dust around, also dropped items from the fridge will accumulate here. The easiest way to clean under your fridge is by simply using a handheld or a vacuum cleaner of your choice.

3. Under Your Sofa Cushions and Sofa

Another area where you are going to be able to find all kinds of grime, dirt, and all kinds of foreign objects is under your sofa cushions. Because you are likely sitting on your sofa doing all kinds of things, you know there will be all kinds of stuff trapped under your cushions, crumbs, sweets, money. The best way to clean this area is by using a simple vacuum cleaner.

4. Washing Machine

Another area that you need to be careful with is your washing machine. A lot of problems can result if you do not keep your washing machine as clean as possible. If you do not clean it enough, you will likely experience manufacturer malfunctions and/or your machine will start to smell.

This is something that you should do around 4 times per year. You can either clean this using a specialised product or by doing it manually. If your machine has a self clean setting, it will be able to clean itself with that setting. Also, be sure to clean the detergent trays now and again but on a regular schedule.

5. Computers &  Keyboards

Another area of your house that you need to be sure that you consistently clean is your PC keyboard. A lot of people fail to realize the amount of grime, dirt, dust, and germs that can live on our keyboards. What you can do to clean your keyboard is simply grab some compressed air and provide short and quick blasts through your keys to blow the dust out. Alternatively when the PC is switched off turn the keyboard upside down and give it a tap, you can clean this by using a simple vacuum cleaner but be careful the suction is really low. Another area to use the vacuum cleaner on is the back of the PC, this will also build up fluff and dust as the cooling fan on the rear will cause these to accumulate there.
